Mission

The Wharton Dean's Undergraduate Advisory Board (WAB) holds the mission of enhancing the Wharton undergraduate experience by collaborating with the administration to generate and implement academic initiatives that have a positive impact on the learning environment. The board closely collaborates with the Dean of Wharton, the Vice Dean, and the Managing Director of the Undergraduate Division, in addition to other student leadership organizations and professors to achieve its mission.

Structure

The board is composed of approximately 20 members on the board each year and requires its members to remain on the board until they graduate. To ensure that every voice is heard and all possible perspectives are seen, the board operates with a flat structure; this means that every member has equal say in discussions and initiative creation regardless of their year in school. With that being said, two co-chairs are elected each year to handle the majority of administrative duties.

Each board member will join multiple initiative teams with 3-4 other students to complete a set objective over the course of the semester. Initiative topics change each semester and focus on various issues from creating business case competitions to advising Wharton administrators and departments on curriculum restructuring.

Commitment

Each week a board member can anticipate one full board meeting for an hour and a half and 2-3 initiative meetings lasting an hour each. Every member of WAB is expected to attend every board-wide and initiative meeting. Moreover, board members are expected to remain active on the board until they graduate.
