One of the most popular athletic clubs on campus, the Wharton Boxing Club is a community of students who share a passion for and/or want to learn more about the sport of boxing. We welcome individuals from all skill levels, and our membership includes everyone from amateur fighters to those who have never thrown a punch. Whether your goal is to participate in the legendary Fight Night--a charity event featuring our bravest fighters--or just to get in shape, you are invited to join our community! Remember -- absolutely NO prior experience is necessary.
Our conditioning sessions are held at the Sporting Club at the Bellevue (Broad/Walnut) in conjunction with the Penn Law Boxing Club 10 times a week across 5 days: Mondays, Tuesday, Wednesdays, Thursday, and Saturdays.
Our training is led by Greg Coachman--a former fighter and professional trainer--and focuses on building understanding of basic combos, fight strategies, and conditioning, conditioning, conditioning. You will be led through a variety of calisthenic circuits and non-contact punching drills. If you are interested, you can also begin sparring in Mid-October, where you will learn basic offense/defense strategies and get in the ring (in a gradual and supervised manner).
As a member of our club, you can also expect to play and sweat together. The club has plans to sponsor a number of happy hours, inter-club social events, and of course to throw our full support behind Fight Night.
