Frequently Asked Questions

How much are dues?

$85 before October 5th, then $100

What do dues cover?

Dues include access to social events on the US trip, subsidized access to pub and Ski party, and a club t-shirt (while supplies last)

Should I get an Epic or Ikon Pass?

Both US and Spring Break trips will be on the EPIC PASS this year, but with the discounts you can get on Ikon we think either are a great deal! Please see the Resources page for links to buy either pass

What are the events on the trips usually like?

All trips will include a combination of aprés events including Wharton-only sections of iconic venues like La Folie Douce, as well as 1-2 nighttime events fully organized by the club

Do I have to buy ski/board equipment and gear?

Not at all - all members will have access to discounted gear rentals on all trips, often including apparel. We'll also be setting up gear swaps throughout the year that everyone can take advantage of.

What gear do I even need?

We recommend a helmet, 1-2 thermal underlayers, snow pants, snow jacket, gloves, goggles, and then of course skis/board/boots

What discounts do you offer?

See our Resources page for up to date information on WSSC partner discounts!

What if I've never skied/boarded before?

Totally fine! Many of our members are new to the slopes, and all trips have plenty of beginner terrain. We'll also have a beginner-focused day trip to a local PA mountain in January (Shreducation) that is a great way to get comfortable on the pow -- get tips and pointers from one of our WSSC board members (free!) or join a group lesson with a Jack Frost instructor (discounted pricing).

What if I don't like skiing/boarding?

Come for the aprés! Each trip location also has a multitude of other activities from snowshoeing, dog sledding, sightseeing, etc. that even non-shredders can take advantage of.
