Mish Mish is a modern Mediterranean restaurant in East Passyunk that captures the warmth, vibrancy, and spontaneity of a Tel Aviv dinner party. Founded by Alex Tewfik, former food editor of Philadelphia Magazine, the restaurant is his love letter to the dining world he spent years writing about. After covering hundreds of kitchens and chefs, Alex left journalism to create his own space — one that felt joyful, welcoming, and unfussy. The name Mish Mish, meaning “apricot” in Arabic, nods both to his Egyptian-Russian heritage and to the fleeting beauty of apricot season — a reminder to savor good things while they last. The restaurant’s cozy, amber-lit space on Tasker Street invites guests to gather over shareable plates that celebrate seasonal ingredients and bold Mediterranean flavors.

For the Wharton Food Club takeover, we’ll enjoy Mish Mish’s signature tasting menu, paired with select wines chosen to complement the bright, layered flavors of each course. Expect beautifully composed dishes like fried Armenian string cheese, pomegranate-lacquered chicken with labneh, and an ever-changing rotation of vibrant seafood and vegetable plates — with plenty of vegetarian-friendly options throughout the menu. With its intimate energy, inventive wine list, and roots in storytelling and hospitality, Mish Mish feels less like a restaurant and more like being invited into a friend’s home — making it the perfect setting for our next Food Club dining experience.
