2023-2024 Initiatives

 
Training Committee To provide DEI training and workshops to improve inclusivity within various constituents of the Wharton community, including but not limited to faculty, student leaders, and student workers.
Faculty Engagements To build on our pilot course, Social Justice, and improve our engagements with faculty to improve DEI conditions in the classroom
Community Engagement To offer unique spaces to engage members of the Wharton community with WEDIG's mission
Marketing To focus on promotion and outreach for all WEDIG initiatives and partnerships and expand WEDIG's presence in the Wharton community
New Member Initiative (F '23) To engage and educate members new members of WEDIG to generate fresh ideas for the organization. This initiative will run in the Fall '23 semester.
Data Collection (S '24) To generate qualitative and quantitative data related to DEI and create measurable tools towards WEDIG's DEI goals. This initiative will run in the Spring '24 semester.

WEDIG Advisory Board To create an advisory board consisting of Wharton professors which will provide learning, mentorship, and leadership development opportunities for all WEDIG board members.

Tracking Multicultural Belonging To generate qualitative and quantitative data related to DEI and create measurable tools towards WEDIG's DEI goals
Corporate Social Justice Course To create a seminar-based class that covers the intersection of business and social justice issues
DEI in Wharton Curriculum To ensure student exposure to DEI concepts and applications through the Wharton Leadership Journey and Wharton Undergraduate Academic Experience
Diversity in Wharton Admissions To increase diversity of ideas, perspectives, and experiences of the Wharton undergraduate student body through an inclusive and robust recruitment effort of underrepresented high schools nationwide.
Club Recruiting To incorporate diversity, equity, and inclusion principles into Wharton clubs
Diversity Day To promote, express, and celebrate the differences and similarities between students in the Wharton community.
External Communication To promote a stable and mutually beneficial exchange of information awareness, joint programming, and opportunity flow between WEDIG and campus organizations and the larger Penn community. To provide transparent platforms that can connect with students and provide resources to the Wharton student community. To establish long-term, frequent touchpoints and relationships with Wharton admistration to communicate student needs and find areas to collaborate.
