3. Nov 14 – Search Fund Speaker Event: Jim Southern and Coley Andrews (Partners at Pacific Lake Partners) and successful Search Fund Entrepreneur Jim Vesterman (Wharton ’09)
- Interested in buying and running your own business? Want to be your own boss and the CEO of a small company? You can, via a Search Fund.
A search fund is a vehicle through which a recent MBA graduate (or two graduates) seek to find, acquire, and then run one small, but growing and profitable business. After acquisition, the entrepreneur(s) becomes the CEO of the company and works to build the business over the next 5+ years. The entrepreneurs are compensated with a significant equity stake in the value created during their tenure as CEO of the company.
The most recent study of the over 150 search funds that have been formed states the aggregate IRR of the search fund universe is 34.4%.
Want to learn more? Join us in G55 at 12:00PM this Thursday, November 14. Jim Southern and Coley Andrews are two entrepreneurs and investors who focus exclusively on investing in the search fund model and will be here to explain how it all works.
They will also be joined by Jim Vesterman (WG ’09), who recently acquired Raptor Technologies via the search fund model. In the past 18 months under Jim's leadership the company has grown exponentially and is on a path to great success. Come listen to Jim talk about his search, acquisition, and management experience as a current search fund entrepreneur.

8. Undergrad Mentorship Program
-
Program pairs undergraduates and MBAs in an informal setting for a one-off lunch and/or coffeechat session. We are collecting your availability to match you with an undergraduate interested in hearing about your knowledge and experiences. These sessions would be held over coffee or lunch and last 45 minutes to 1 hour. After this initial meeting you are free to continue advising the undergraduate at your own discretion; however, we do not require you to continue this relationship.
We hope to facilitate an increasing number of positive relationships between undergrads and MBAs, thus fostering more interaction within the Wharton community. As future business leaders, we hope that you all will be able to expand your Wharton network both personally and professionally.
