We hope you are ready for an exciting week of PEVC events! Some of our rock-star 2nd years will be sharing their experiences on the recruiting process and on Thursday, two Wharton alumni from Bain Capital and Apax will share their interviewing tips. These events will be crucial as you gear up for summer internship and even full-time recruiting. 1. Nov 19 – Overview of VC Industry

The PEVC VC team will be holding a student panel on the overview of Venture Capital industry and recruiting for VC. This ground level overview session will be helpful to anyone curious about the VC industry or considering it as a career option. There will be a 10 minute industry overview followed by a Q&A session with current second years who went through the recruiting process for summer internships.

3. Nov 20 – Working in Private Equity in Europe – 2nd Year Panel

The PEVC Club Europe team will be holding a panel of 2nd year students who have a pre-Wharton or summer experience at private equity industry in Europe. This event will provide the opportunity to those of you, who are interested in working in private equity industry in Europe, to learn about your classmates' experience, ask questions and discuss the opportunities in an informal setting.

4. Nov 21 – Private Equity Recruiting Insights

The PEVC Career Development team will be holding an introductory career panel on how to navigate the private equity and venture capital industries, with a focus on the recruiting process. Panelists will include second year students who went through private equity and venture capital recruiting last year. The panelists will provide insights from their experiences in the industry as well as the recruiting process.

5. Nov 21 – Private Equity Job Search & Interview Prep Speaker Event

David Bard, a VP from Bain Capital and Wharton MBA alum, and Derek Lim, a Senior Associate from Apax Partners and Wharton MBA alum, will be on campus tomorrow to talk about the private equity job search out of MBA and how to prepare for interviews.

Speaker Bios
David Bard: Mr. Bard joined Bain Capital in 2006. Prior to joining Bain Capital, Mr. Bard was a business analyst at McKinsey & Company and an analyst at Oliver Wyman.  Education Mr. Bard received an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a MPhil from the University of Cambridge. He also received a Bachelor of Applied Science and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.

Derek Lim: Derek Lim is a Senior Associate in the Financial & Business Services team.  He originally joined Apax Partners in 2010 as a Summer Associate before joining full-time in 2011. Derek is currently based in New York. Prior to joining Apax Partners, Derek was an investment professional at Fenway Partners, where he worked on completing transactions in the branded consumer, transportation and logistics sectors. Prior to joining Fenway, Derek worked as an investment banker in the M&A group at Citigroup. Derek holds an MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and a BA in Economics from Occidental College.

6. Dec 6-8 – Training the Street Sessions – Sign Up Today!

Back by popular demand, we've brought Training the Street - the leading financial trainer for Wall Street firms - for training sessions which cover LBO modeling and interviews. This is the last session before the year ends, so be sure to sign up today!

December 6th – Friday (9:00 – 5:00): Beginner LBO Modeling
December 7th – Saturday (10:00 – 4:00): Advanced LBO Modeling and M&A Topics
December 8th  – Sunday (9:00 – 5:00): PE Interview Prep & Advanced Topics


The instructors will be former deal professional and will bring a "real world" perspective to the classroom.  Please see attached brochure for further information and pricing details.  Each class includes a substantial set of materials that will be distributed at the seminar. These events have received rave reviews from past Wharton students, and TTS will only provide the training if there is sufficient demand from students... so sign up ASAP to reserve a space! 7. Jan 18 – Wall Street Prep Oil & Gas Valuation Modeling Seminar

The Wharton Energy Club is offering a Wall Street Prep course on Oil & Gas Valuation Modeling seminar on Saturday, January 18, 2014. This intensive 1-day seminar is led by former investment bankers with applied expertise in O&G modeling methodologies, and bridges the gap between academics and the real world to equip students with the practical O&G valuation knowledge they need to excel on the job.

Please note that capacity for this event is limited and you should buy your tickets early. First 40 members to sign up early bird tickets for only $45 vs. $75 for later sign ups and $99 for non-members. These fees represent >80% discount compared to typical prices for this type of training.
