"What a Strange Trip it Has Been – A Poli Sci Guy’s Journey to Wharton and Entrepreneurship"
Join us for lunch! MBA Wharton Alumnus Tucker Twitmyer will discuss his experience in environment business opportunities and innovation. He will talk about how entrepreneurs are leaders in ventures that are economically and environmentally sustainable. Tucker’s remarks will focus on energy efficiency and how it interfaces with technology and investing.

Tucker has been investing in energy technology and services companies for 13 years with an emphasis on technology enabled efficiency, development, services, and products companies across the electricity, oil, and gas industries. Tucker currently sits on the boards of SpaceTime Insight, OwnEnergy and Tangent Energy Solutions. He previously sat on the boards of Enerwise (acquired), FuelQuest (acquired), Advent Solar (acquired), Franklin Fuel Cells (acquired), Welldog (acquired) and was an observer to Comverge (COMV), Clean Air Power (CAP.L), 6th Dimension (acquired), Sagemaker (acquired) and Altela. He is a board member and former President of Wharton Private Equity Partners, an Investment Partner with InvestMaryland, Chairman of the IMPACT 2012 Cleantech Track, an advisor to the Skolkovo Foundation, a former member of the CleanTech Venture Network Advisory Board, and was recently honored as one of the Power Players in Cleantech and Who’s Who in Energy. Prior to EnerTech, Tucker was a co-founder and Managing Director of Katalyst LLC, a private equity services firm and a Senior Manager at Andersen Consulting, now Accenture. Tucker began his career in finance and IT operations with MultiServ, a provider of material handling and recycling services to the steel industry. Tucker received a BA in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

What: Small group dinner for those interested in PEVC industry in Brazil

This is intended to be an informal event where you can meet and learn from those who are interested in or already have experience in the PEVC industry in Brazil. The club will be subsidizing dinner costs.

PEVC Geography Breakout Happy Hour

PEVC Club is hosting a happy hour during which we will split up into different geographical regions of interest. Come along to learn about PE trends specific to each region, connect with other future private equity leaders in your area, meet the VPs covering each region, and discuss future PE treks. Stay tuned for further details in next week’s newsletter.

6.   Sat 10/12 - Training the Street Session

Back by popular demand, we've brought Training the Street – the leading financial trainer for Wall Street firms – for training sessions which cover LBO modeling and interviews. This is a must-attend for anyone interested in breaking into the private equity industry, and a very helpful refresher for 2nd Years in the midst of interviewing.

  • October 12th – Saturday (9:00 – 5:00): PE Interview Prep & Advanced Topics

The instructors will be former deal professional and will bring a "real world" perspective to the classroom.  Please see attached brochure for further information and pricing details.  Each class includes a substantial set of materials that will be distributed at the seminar. These events have received rave reviews from past Wharton students, and availability is limited to the size of the classrooms, so sign up ASAP to reserve a space! We are confirming room locations and will it out to the group once finalized.

A number of students have reached out to ask for a second chance to apply to the Wharton Business Plan Competition (WBPC) Student Management Committee, so a second round of applications for Director roles is now being accepted. For all you aspiring entrepreneurs and investors or those looking to get involved in an exciting year-long competition, APPLY NOW! 

The Student Management Committee is unique leadership opportunity to be a part of one of the leading global university-run business plan competitions. Meet and mingle with the judges and innovative teams and get a behind-the-scenes look at a renowned business plan competition. 

Of particular interest to the PEVC club is the Directors of Judge Relations roles, as this involves supporting and networking with you community of judges, including VCs, angel investors, service providers and entrepreneurs.

Wear your favorite animal print and board a party bus to Atlantic City for a night of dining, poker, gambling, dancing, drinking, and merriment. The party bus will return to Philadelphia at 2 am but if the conditions look good, surfers will stick around for a morning surf. Brought to you by the PEVC Club, Poker & Gaming Club, Surf & Beach Club, and Travel & Hospitality Club.
