1/28 Wine School: Wine 201! Boutique Napa and Sonoma

Everyone knows Napa, and most are at least familiar with Sonoma—but that familiarity is often shaped by the larger, more commercial producers that dominate grocery stores and wine shop shelves. This Wine School 201: Boutique Napa & Sonoma moves beyond the larger production labels to examine the historical development, key regions, and AVAs that define these benchmark winegrowing areas. The class will focus in particular on the smaller, boutique wineries that represent a different side of Napa and Sonoma: family-owned and husband-and-wife teams, often operating DTC-only or with very limited retail distribution, yet producing wines of exceptional quality and distinction. This session serves as both a deeper regional study and a primer on outstanding producers you may not have encountered—some of whom will be visiting the Wharton Wine Club later this spring.
