The electricity grid: one of the most quintessential, yet most outdated systems for the imminent energy transition is featured daily on the news. But what actually is the grid? How does it function? What issues is it facing, and how can we improve it? This undergraduate discussion is a student-for-student information session to facilitate more knowledgeable discussion. Hosted by the Wharton Undergraduate Energy Group, students from multidisciplinary backgrounds will shortly present the basic functioning of the grid, before diving into necessary changes of the grid within the larger energy transition. Following this introduction, further students will highlight various contemporary topics of interest you might have heard about: microgrids, energy storage systems, advanced metering and more! Please join fellow undergraduate experts to learn more about this highly critical issue that is at the heart of this generation's big challenges.
