Q&A

Q: Who can participate?

A: The trip is open to all Wharton Sailing Club members, regardless of experience. Beginners are welcome—no prior sailing knowledge is required!

Q: What is the cost of the trip?

A:

• 40-foot boats: $975 per person + 7% tax

• 51-foot premium boat: $1,100 per person + 7% tax

This includes the ASA course, textbooks, logbook, ASA certification, and a temporary ASA membership. Lodging and flights are not included.

Q: What other costs should I expect?

A: In addition to the course fee:

• Lodging is estimated at ~$150 per night (we recommend nearby hotels or Airbnbs).

• Meals are not included (~$50/day).

• Flights to Miami (MIA) are also your responsibility.

Q: How many people will be on each boat?

A: Each boat will have five students with one dedicated instructor to ensure personalized learning.

Q: What does the daily schedule look like?

A: Each day runs from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with mornings focused on learning and afternoons on practical sailing exercises. There will be a lunch break near the marina.

Q: How do I secure my spot?

A: Submit your completed form and pay a $300 deposit by December 3, 2024. The deposit is non-refundable.

Q: Is there a refund policy?

A: The $300 deposit is non-refundable. Full payment details will be provided closer to the trip.

Q: What should I bring?

A: Comfortable clothing, sunscreen, and non-slip shoes. All sailing equipment, textbooks, and materials will be provided.

Q: How do I get to the marina?

A: The marina is a 20-minute Uber ride from Miami International Airport (MIA). No car rentals are needed, as accommodations, dining, and the marina are within walking distance.

Q: What happens if it rains?

A: Sailing classes proceed unless the weather is severe. The instructors will ensure safety is the top priority.
