DuPont Aquaculture & Scott Nichols:

Scott Nichols is a director at Verlasso harmoniously raised fish, which offers a more consciously farmed premium salmon. He is responsible for Verlasso’s engagement with NGOs, environmental, sustainability and culinary leaders to discover ways to evolve aquaculture to meet the ever-growing demand for fish that replenish rather than deplete the oceans. He is searching for ways to evolve aquaculture to meet the ever-growing demand for fish while preserving the ecosystems where fish are raised.  His public outreach is devoted to communicating the value of sustainable seafood for both retail executives and consumers so they see the tangible connection between their purchase decisions and the preservation of ocean vitality that ensures fish continue to be available for future generations. He is a champion of the need to act with urgency to find the most sustainable ways to produce good and healthy food, and a frequent speaker on the broad topic of “How Your Food is Raised Truly Matters”. Amongst recent presentations are: The Economist World Ocean Summit; Chefs Collaborative Sustainable Food Summit; Fortune Brainstorm Green; Monterey Bay Aquarium Sustainable Foods Institute; World Wildlife Fund Sustainable Sourcing Workshop; SeaWeb International Seafood Summit; World Aquaculture Society.

Previously, Scott worked extensively on biodiversity projects in Africa and South America, giving him a deep appreciation for developing comprehensive approaches to sustainable food production.  Scott’s education includes a Ph.D. in biochemistry from UCLA and Wharton's Advanced Management Program.
